To create a looping video animation for Modern Ice that could showcase the most beneficial partners and be used as a screen saver for their 42” vertical touch screens at a November trade show.
As the designer/animator my challenge was to figure out through client discussions the best way to incorporate a large number of brands on screen and how best to tell a passer-by what each of the brand’s strengths is as a partner for Modern Ice.
The solution was a looping animated video (1080x1920 - 2:30s) that starts with the reveal of the Modern Ice logo and logo cloud revealing the current partner organizations. The logo cloud solution is part of an ongoing branding strategy that Modern Ice already had implemented within print and web materials but had not been previously animated. After discussions with Bob Kelly from KPG and Jeannie Shelton from Modern Ice, it was decided that giving 10 seconds to each of the major partners with specific messaging about the strength of that partner along with displaying their products and solutions in the background during that time would be the solution. The animation was created within Adobe After Effects and the background b-roll was edited with Adobe Premiere. Due to a lack of many of the manufacturers not having a vector version of their brand many of the logos had to be recreated within Adobe Illustrator for use within the video.
In addition to the video animation, a fly-around of a pre-existing factory model was needed utilizing an auto cad file of a pre-existing ice factory solution. This was a separate deliverable for a video edit also to be used at the trade show. After adding some lighting to the existing scene and rigging up a camera path within 3dsmax, I was able to render out the above clip.
The final 2:30 video animation was added to the beginning of their web-based touch screen application as the screen saver and was a great eye-catcher and conversation starter for sales reps on location at the tradeshow.
